It's a big day and a significant milestone in the still young history of the Galliker branch in Perafita, Portugal. Representatives of the company Galliker receive the Volvo FH tractor unit from the Volvo agent Auto-Sueco. With this modern commercial vehicle, Galliker wants to take a first, really concrete step towards green logistics in Portugal. In future, the electric Volvo FH will be used to distribute spare parts from global brands such as Volvo, Man, Mazda, Renault Truck and Caterpillar on tours in the Porto region in a CO2-neutral manner. Collections will also be made from various export companies and bundled in cross-docking for onward delivery from Portugal to Spain, France, Benelux, Sweden and Switzerland.
Galliker hopes that this first step will serve as an example and role model for many other transport companies for the introduction and expansion of sustainable delivery processes. This, of course, in a country that generates more than 50% of its electrical energy from renewable sources - around 30% from hydropower, 23% from wind and 10% from the sun.
